Round-the-Clock Drain Specialists Covering Didcot

24hrs Drainage covers Didcot and South Oxfordshire around the clock, every day of the year, for homes and businesses. We clear blocked drains, line cracked pipes without digging, and survey drains with a CCTV camera. Every job gets a fixed price before work starts, and we reach Didcot from our Reading base along the A34.

A drain backing up in your kitchen at 10pm does not wait until morning, and neither do we. Call any hour, day or night, and we head straight out.

Didcot sits on greensand and Gault clay at the foot of the chalk downs, right where the ground shifts with the seasons. That setting brings its own drainage faults, and we see them again and again, so we arrive knowing what to look for. From an OX11 terrace near the centre to a new home on Great Western Park, we tell you in plain words what is wrong and what it will cost before we touch a tool.

Drainage for Didcot Businesses, Labs and Schools

Didcot is a Garden Town and one of Oxfordshire’s designated growth areas, and a drainage fault can shut a business down fast. We look after shops and food outlets in the town centre, offices and units at Milton Park, research sites around Harwell Campus, plus care homes, GP surgeries and schools.

Food outlets fill grease traps and block shared drains, and a school or care home cannot lose its toilets for a day. We run planned maintenance that keeps your drains flowing and your site open, with priority response if something does go wrong. One backup should never become a closure.

Drainage Problems That Are Common in Didcot

Why does Didcot's greensand and clay ground cause drain faults?

Didcot sits on Upper Greensand and Gault clay at the foot of the chalk downs. Gault clay swells when wet and shrinks when dry, so it moves through the year. That movement opens the joints in older clay pipes and lets roots and groundwater in, which is why a lot of Didcot blockages start at a cracked joint rather than a soft blockage.

Where the chalk downs meet the clay, springs and groundwater sit close to the surface. After a long wet spell the water rises and seeps into pipes through cracks and joints, overloads the system, and causes blockages that keep coming back. If your drain clears then blocks again within weeks, that is the usual sign of a fault the water is finding.

They do. Great Western Park added around 3,300 homes and grew Didcot by about a fifth, and Valley Park will add thousands more. New estates share adopted drains and rely on soakaways, and in the first few years the common culprits are building debris and wet wipes. A camera survey quickly shows whether a fault is yours or shared.

Many homes near the town centre are post-war or 1960s terraces on their original clay drains. Clay pipes crack, joints come apart, and roots find the gaps. If your home is from that era and the drains have never been surveyed, it is worth a look before a small fault turns into a dug-up floor.

The chalk aquifer here gives hard water, and over the years scale builds inside the pipe and narrows it until the flow struggles. Clearing a blockage gets things moving, but to restore the full pipe we descale a scaled-up pipe back to its proper width.
